 What is Pilates Matwork? The Pilates Mat Work is a series of exercises based on developing functional strength by performing specific moves. Joseph Pilates, the founder of the method, created a number of machines with which to execute these moves as well as a repertoire of exercises to be performed without machines. You can do a significant amount of Pilates exercises on a mat without using expensive or bulky equipment. Pilates Mat is done on the floor instead of a piece of equipment. Great workout for the "powerhouse" which is belly, buns, back and thighs.
